Dance ~ Sama
Public Art Sculpture
Proposal I
Proposal I
Dance was created in 1997 by Mitra Ghaffari in a painting collaboration series with Prof. Jiang Jin ( Calligraphy and Tai Chi master), at Hangzhou National Academy of Fine Art University, China. Dance became the 'Flagship Image' of the collaborative exhibitions and from conception was envisioned to be made into public art sculpture.
The painting process followed traditional rituals of Eastern Calligraphy in harmony with the 'fortune flow' of personal and universal Chi. "Each painting was limited to 1 - 3 brush strokes while walking and circling meditatively around large pieces of rice paper with large paint brushes and buckets of ink. All materials were natural and hand made by traditional craft studios: large brushes made from sculpted wooden handles and animal tails, natural inks and 4' x 6' sheets of rice paper. |
